Moeraki Boulders

The Moeraki Boulders are a geological rarity. They occupy a beach north of Dunedin. Volcanically formed (similar to geodes), they roll onto the beach when the surrounding sand is eroded away.

Our New Home

Here is our campervan, which we’ve had for the past 5 days. It allows us to see all the most gorgeous scenery in N.Z. It’s pretty cute, actually, and easy to drive.

Full Moon Rise

We stopped at this beach front car park to enjoy the full moon rising over the South Pacific Ocean.

Akaroa

Akaroa is an adorable French village on the Banks Peninsula on the east coast of N.Z. The peninsula was an ancient volcano. The harbor you see below us was once the cone of the volcano!

Antarctic Center in Christchurch

In Christchurch, we went to the international Antarctic Center. Here is Paul in the “Antarctic Room” where temperature and wind replicate the conditions in Antarctica! It didn’t seem that cold to us… turns out we were experiencing an Antarctic summer. Wouldn’t want to be there in the winter!

Christchurch, abreiviated

Christchurch was settled by the English and is the largest city on the south island. Purphaps its not a fair evaluation of Christchurch, or the English who settled there, to say that the weather was purposley designed to make the settlers feel right at home. It was rainy, foggy and downright wonderfully like a beautiful [...]

Kaikoura
